The Life of Dominion
I suppose that when we say “dominion”, various pictures come to mind. Perhaps we see a conquering king, or maybe we see ourselves standing over a defeated foe with a drawn sword. For others it may be a life of sitting on a throne, com-manding people to do your bidding. We may see ourselves in complete control of every situation. Then there is the thought of sovereignty; the rugged individualist who is free to do as he pleases without interference from others.
Dominion has more to do with our power to “tread down, subjugate, and prevail”. If we actually had the power of dominion, we would be living an overcoming life, right now. If we were living in dominion, we would have no vices controlling our lives. We would not be in financial debt to anyone. Our home would be happy and we would be in harmony with our spouse. The children would be obedient and in compliance with the rules of the house. We would not be going to a job every day that we do not like. We would be earning our living with our gifts, which God gave us as our “stock in trade”. We would be reasonably healthy for our age. We would meet the challenges of our life, as well as the lives of others in our acquaintance with an attitude of “no problem”. We would be confident, and at peace in situations that ap-pear as disaster. We would have hope for our future, and peace for today.
